Charge full NDIS rate for workers that are straight out of university. If they go five minutes over your session, they bill you for an extra half hour and charge you full price for cancellations even with ample notice. Funds get used up very quickly with not a lot of benefit/value for money.
Thanks for sharing your feedback. We’re continually working to improve our services so that together, we can achieve the best outcomes. We are very sorry to hear about your recent experiences, so please get in touch so we can work through them together. Customer Service Team: 1800 343 287 or email support@mcm.org.au
MCM handles complaints in a very poor manner. We received a very tersely worded unprofessional email from my step-son’s Support Coordinator and even though MCM acknowledged that the communication did not meet their expectations, they took a course of action that was appalling. MCM decided to exclude me (step-mum) from all communications even though I had been and still am, the person who manages appts and communications on behalf of my husband. Their actions have put pressure on my husband to manage all NDIS matters for his son instead of recognising the he and I are a team and work collaboratively, especially as I manage three other NDIS Plans in the family. . When my husband raised this issue with MCM (directly with the Assistant CEO) they said they would have to cut service at the end of my step-son’s NDIS Plan if he didn’t agree. They imposed their decision without genuine consultation with stakeholders and with no regard for the best interests of my step-son who lives in a shared care arrangement.
MCM needs to be much more person centred and family centred in their approach to working with families. MCM needs to develop a proper complaints system that works with families to resolve issues rather than dictating the terms.
The program manager at Melbourne City Mission is exceptional to deal with. He and his team has provided us great service and communication. I have no hesitate in using Melbourne city mission in the future and recommending him and his team to my friends.
Thank you Nadine for taking the time to share your review - it's great to hear you are so pleased with our staff and services. We'll make sure your review is shared with the team.
They seem pretty good however the person I'm working with doesn't seem to have much local. It's a journey of a discovery.
Thanks for your feedback Carol, we really appreciate it. Our team are always working to build their local knowledge as the NDIS continues to roll out and grow – it’s definitely a journey for all of us!
I go to Compass 3 times a week. It's a close knit "family" - that's really what it is. We share laughs and jokes, and prepare lunch together. If you're wanting to be part of a team and a close knit group, it's a great place. We help each other out with what we need. Everyone who is there goes pretty regularly. It's a great environment and a great team to be with.
Thank you for your feedback Geoff, it's great to hear how the Compass "family" have supported you
My support coordinator is good at supporting people with a disability. She tries to get other services involved and even tries to get more funding to help me out. She listens and I feel heard.
Hi Pinkie, thanks for your feedback and we’re glad to hear your partnership with your support coordinator is working well.
Great help with sorting my services and living arrangements. They asked good questions and didn't assume anything.
That’s great to hear that you were able to sort out your services and living arrangements with the support of our team, thanks for sharing your feedback.
My son has been using City Mission's services for 2.5 years. The staff is alright but they could do more about services being more proactive.
Hi Sally, thanks for sharing your feedback, we’re always working to improve our services so together we can achieve the best outcomes. [Re: Norparrin]
I would like a lot more guidance and for them to be communicate more about what's happening in the community e.g. parents workshops & training
Thanks for your feedback Ramo, we’d love to hear from you about what kind of communication would work best for you and other families, so we can improve the support we provide to you. What would be the best way to share this kind of information - email, social media, newsletters, posters
I am a mum and I use their City Mission for 4 years and I would not survive without them. They help with everything. Hep linking with other services. I have English as a second language and they helped so much - I highly recommend.
Thank you for the feedback Momilco great to hear that the service has delivered what you wanted
Melbourne City Mission is very good. But I think the case manager should be kept longer if it is possible. The other things is would it send more information every month.
That’s an interesting idea Min Wu about sending out information each month what sort of information would you be interested in
We have been using Melbourne City Mission case management services for over 16 years. They connect us to respite and recreation services for our family. They are extremely helpful and supportive. We will be staying with them when things move to the NDIS.
I think Melbourne City Missions provide a great service.
I really like the fact that they provide a support person to attend meetings with the school. I feel like in meetings they manage to summarise the issues succinctly and formulate a just right plan that means changes are possible, and everyone knows what they are doing to work towards goals.
When I attend school PSG meetings alone I notice a distinct negative difference in the outcome. There is a lot of talk about the issues – but it doesn’t seem to get succinctly wrapped up into a achievable plan to move forward with mutual goals.
I like having a support person to contact to discuss issues that arise and get advice.
Great to hear this support is working productively for you and that you feel you are achieving better outcomes that’s so positive.
