About

Lightmare Studios is a respected Australian institution in the game development, education and the broader disability sectors. For over 16 years, we've served and partnered with our global playerbase of over half a million players, industry alliances and veteran developers. Through these relationships, we've established internationally award-winning video games, disability support services and game development training, with the last two delivered to over 3000 Australian youths. The Lightmare Studios Social Games Community is run by our very own veteran game development team and community managers, alongside support workers. This gives participants a safer and engaging space for those living with a disability to connect and cooperate with like-minded gamers, through both playing and/or creating games together. They can also optionally learn skills crucial to employment in the Video Games industry and many adjacent digital industries. Lightmare employs a select number of those living with a disability and provides disability support through this employment.

The NDIS provides funding to eligible people with disability to gain more time with family and friends, greater independence, access to new skills, jobs, or volunteering in their community, and an improved quality of life.

To be eligible for the NDIS, individuals must be under the age of 65, be an Australian citizen or hold a permanent visa, and have a permanent and significant disability that affects their ability to participate in everyday activities.

Your NDIS plan revolves around your personal life goals and aspirations. It is crafted based on the information you share during your planning session with your Local Area Coordinator (LAC). Within your plan, you will find a breakdown of the various supports required to help you reach your goals, along with the specific funding allocated to each support category.

Your NDIS plan is tailored to your needs and is reviewed regularly to ensure it continues to meet your changing circumstances and goals.

The NDIS can be difficult to navigate, it's important that you prepare and seek out assistance during your application process.

For more details, see our step by step guide by visting https://www.ndis.gov.au/applying-access-ndis/how-apply.

The NDIS requires service providers to register with them to allow for direct invoicing claims for NDIA-managed clients. However, not all providers opt for registration, meaning there could be a suitable unregistered provider out there that can offer you supports. Access to these unregistered providers is only available if you self-manage your funds or have a Plan Manager.
