My interactions with Independent Disability Services have so far always been positive. I have been in touch with the General Manager and one of their Support Coordinators and find them to be responsive, caring and truly committed to improving clients' journeys. They are able to focus on both the client perspective (with an individualised approach) and the employee wellbeing perspective (which actually really improves the client experience - if only all organisations realised this!). Would be happy to recommend.

Staff at this service are very good they listen to what the customer wants and act on it quickly and efficiently they ask the right and sensible questions and if difficulty they just don't leave it and hope it goes away.

Staff always answer the telephone promptly and respond to e-mail within hours of it being sent.

This company has at times gone above and beyond their duty to get things done.

The respect other family members who have disabled family members and work with them to get things fixed.

My client has had a very very bad deal from the NDIS and this company has worked very hard to get further things for their client.

I could not recommend a better company to deal with

At the moment, I'm getting help with day to day thing from them like shopping. IDS have been extremely helpful in navigating issues with the NDIS. It was very difficult trying to find someone who matched me. IDS have been marvellous in that respect. For example, one younger guy who I had worked with previously, he approached things a bit more like a primary school teacher which didn't work for me. I asked IDS for someone else who was a better fit and they helped me with that. The lady who supports me now is fantastic – she treats me really well, gives good advise and doesn't treat me like a teenager. She talks with me not at me. So far, their overall approach has been pretty amazing. They have always tried to work with me and always try to match me with people. The most wonderful thing is that the conversations we have don't pre-suppose that I'm incompetent.

I am a case manager that had a client using this service. I found the service lacking in their understanding of my client's disability, condescending in their treatment of the client, and difficult to have a good working relationship with. In the end, we left the service because of the lack of transparency and poor communication.

Obviously the team here at IDS are disappointed to receive a poor review. We are working hard to ensure that we meet the requirements of all of our clients and we welcome all feedback.

It’s been a while since i’ve been involved with IDS, but back when they were HR&SS they did an amazing job helping me find accessible housing. And they’re one of the few organisations to be governed by a board of people with disabilities, which is a great idea.

Thank you for the positive review. We think it makes the world of difference to be governed by people with disabilities, and we look forward to working hard in the future. There are a lot of exciting projects underway at IDS. We’ll be sharing news about them on our website shortly.
