Ratings & Reviews
I do not recommend this company if you have a disabled family member on ndis I suggest to go elsewhere. The receptionists lied continually. They sent inappropriate mismatched support workers knowing they couldn’t meet the required needs.
On top they constantly over billed.
It actually became a full time job correcting them on their continuous wrongful charging.
Absolutely the worst, deceiving and ridiculous company I have had to deal with!!! Never again and I urge or carers to stay away. Rude staff and management, and at times felt threatened with choice being made on my behalf, support workers not arriving! The excessive billing is ridiculous!!! I made a phone call to correct a problem the company had made... and they rudely charged me for the time 🤬 Would never recommend!!!
As somenone who has been heavily involved with IDS for about 2 years, I can reassure everyone that management is heavily involved in the wellbeing of all staffs and clients. Management and staff closely monitor the services they help provide and always work to the client's benefits. They are an exemplary service provider with continuous service improvements towards their clients and staff training.
Apathetic response.
Pulled a support worker off a shift caring for my disabled mother an hour into the shift. They INSTRUCTED the support worker to lie about the reason for abandoning the shift. Disgusting. No duty of care, no professionalism. Just plain old greedy money racket.
Hello I'm one of IDS clients who continue to receive through their valved respected client centred supportive support from the amazing office staff who always are dedicated answering the telephones with cheerfulness and understanding with a willingness to handle your calls efficiently no matter what support or enquiry you have, they arrange support though contacting support workers to cover the shifts required, arranging Recreation trips they are so fun and getting to meet other friendly clients with disabilities building long lasting friendships along with the help of support. Going on fun recreation trips I know that they are always there to support me and their clients through making it happen with continuing to break the barriers to enable people living with disabilities to live the life they want independently as they can with the support which enables us to do that IDS are so understanding in my experience, and supportive caring and kind I would be lost without them there have been painful seasons where hiding under a rock felt comfortable though they helped me through encouragement and support to come out from under the rock they help me with increasing my self-confidence and independence I always come out of the office with a Big smile and laughing on my face as they truly are understanding, and they demonstrate it through helping me increasing my confidence and through daily living support. I Love IDS they have helped me and continued to so much I can't thank them enough I highly recommend them Even my twin sister came with me for a few days on a trip when we celebrated Internationals women's day which was the 8th of March was such a lovely evening , even my sister was so nervous being away from her mum for the first time with having disability too though IDS really demonstrated understanding and support which made it a fun and special time for her she wants to go again so thankful for the help of all the great office staff and support workers who made that happen overall I'm so thankful for the whole of everyone who makes IDS to be Independent Disability services including the board members. Thank you :) Marcia , Slyvia, Deb,CB,Karina,Karen, and many more including the support workers. Its also great Independent Disability Services have their own website about what Independent Disability services do they always striving to do more, and they have their own Facebook page if you want to see more on the dedicated support, they provide along with photos from the fun recreation trips. As one of the Independent Disability services clients I'm looking forward to the future of IDS.
Once was a good organisation it once had had good support now it has the worst support 👎
Hello MA Stewart,
We are disappointed to hear that you feel this way, as we strive towards having our clients feel heard, valued and supported. We would like to discuss the problems you have faced and work through rectifying this.
We will endeavour to contact you directly
Warm regards,
The IDS Team
If I could give 0 stars I would,
Horrible people who are definitely not trained in what they do,
*EDIT*
I never had a manager come out and discuss any needs with me as my review didn’t even mention whether or not I was a client or worker, please don’t lie and say you have tried fixing things as there is nothing that has been fixed.
We have ended services with IDS and have found another organisation.
Clients are never listened to
Support workers either never show up or cancel at the last minute.
Never notified about anything going on, and if you try to escalate anything it doesn’t go anywhere falls on deaf ears.
Extremely disorganised business.
Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback Alisha. One of our IDS Managers visited to discuss the supports being delivered from IDS and another Service Provider and that together we could review and improve all your supports.
We have discussed with the other Service Provider and key contacts to implement new processes. We would welcome a conversation with you to clarify any misunderstandings. Please contact our Client Services Team Leader during business hours on 03 9340 5100 and we would be more than happy to discuss recent service reviews and listen to any suggested changes.
It not just a service it a wonderful life this service has given me a sense of life and I am really appreciate

Thank you, John, for taking the time to write this review. Above all else, it fills us with joy that you feel supported and able to live the life you want.
becareful of this agency. wil never recommend using this agency. they do not listen to their clients.
Hi Donna, we are sorry to receive your feedback and that you have not been happy with services provided. We have tried to contact you but have not been able to. Can you please contact us to discuss, we would appreciate the opportunity to address issues and better ways of communication so that you feel you are being listened to and we can provide the supports you need.
Very dysfunctional. I had a very negative experience because of how disorganised the whole agency is. You can hardly understand what there HR person is saying. After I had to cancel my interview twice due to family emergency involving my kids, which I communicated to them and they said is fine. I finally attended the last interview scheduled, but there was no interview, even though I called before I left my house. The lady Sarah kept asking me how i found there office and I showed her the email where she wrote there office address, but she still seemed not convinced. Kept trying to make it seem like I was stalking there place of work. What an outlandish suggestion, nobody have time for that.
The Sarah lady assured me that they will reschedule, only for her to send me an email a couple of days later that they have withdrawn my application, so obviously she is a liar. Anyway, good luck if you choose to work for them, you are going to need it.
Thanks for your feedback Chuck. We are sorry that you feel you have had an unhappy experience with IDS.
Upon investigation an email invite had been sent to you on the previous 2 occasions inviting you to an interview however none was sent last week as IDS was not holding group interviews at that time.
We apologies if you called and you were told that interviews were going ahead by a staff member who was not aware these were not scheduled. Due to interviews not currently being scheduled candidates were advised that currently we were not interviewing.
IDS apologies if there was a misunderstanding on the status of your application.
Also we would like to note that IDS promotes diversity within the workplace, that also reflects our client base. All of our staff are qualified to perform their roles, and the organisation embraces and will continue to promote multiculturalism and diversity.
We wish you all the best in your job search.
Honestly a mixed bag. Some workers are great, others have been not particularly competent (we use them mainly for home help/cleaning) All nice people though. Our main complaint is the regular, (at least once a fortnight), cancellations, on the day, often with no phone call - whilst if we have to cancel, a lot of notice has to be given or we still get charged. Not very reliable to be honest, and we've been with them for a few years. Considering changing providers in all honesty.
Hi Jez, we are sorry to hear you have had an inconsistent experience. It is not what we strive for. We would welcome a discussion with one of our client service team leaders to discuss further your experience and feedback. We are unable to find your details for 'Jez Belle', however if you can email your details to projects@idsa.org.au we can then assist you further.
Great company to work with! The staff at IDS are extremely organized and provide excellent care to their clients. It has been a pleasure working with everyone at the IDS team.

My interactions with Independent Disability Services have so far always been positive. I have been in touch with the General Manager and one of their Support Coordinators and find them to be responsive, caring and truly committed to improving clients' journeys. They are able to focus on both the client perspective (with an individualised approach) and the employee wellbeing perspective (which actually really improves the client experience - if only all organisations realised this!). Would be happy to recommend.
Dear EmB
Thank you for your kind words. One of our key goals is to ensure that we exceed our clients' expectations. Our team is deeply committed to empowering the individuals we support. Our clients are treated like family, because that is exactly who they are to us.
Amazing support service. Highly recommended AA++
Thank you for your positive feedback Bronte35. We are very pleased that you are happy with the service we provide!
Great team and very responsive to participants needs!
Thank you for your kind words!
My sister uses IDS for home supports and she could not be happier. They are thoughful, responsive and always put her needs first. Lovely to deal with too. Five stars!!!
Thank you for the lovely feedback, Zeba!
A great, responsive service provider who truly cares about the client. Very good.
Thank you James, we appreciate your feedback!
Staff at this service are very good they listen to what the customer wants and act on it quickly and efficiently they ask the right and sensible questions and if difficulty they just don't leave it and hope it goes away.
Staff always answer the telephone promptly and respond to e-mail within hours of it being sent.
This company has at times gone above and beyond their duty to get things done.
The respect other family members who have disabled family members and work with them to get things fixed.
My client has had a very very bad deal from the NDIS and this company has worked very hard to get further things for their client.
I could not recommend a better company to deal with
Thank you for the amazing feedback Undertaker. We certainly strive to ensure our clients receive the very best service there is.
At the moment, I'm getting help with day to day thing from them like shopping. IDS have been extremely helpful in navigating issues with the NDIS. It was very difficult trying to find someone who matched me. IDS have been marvellous in that respect. For example, one younger guy who I had worked with previously, he approached things a bit more like a primary school teacher which didn't work for me. I asked IDS for someone else who was a better fit and they helped me with that. The lady who supports me now is fantastic – she treats me really well, gives good advise and doesn't treat me like a teenager. She talks with me not at me. So far, their overall approach has been pretty amazing. They have always tried to work with me and always try to match me with people. The most wonderful thing is that the conversations we have don't pre-suppose that I'm incompetent.
Part of our promise is Awesome experience, always. We are very pleased that we are delivering on that promise John.
I am a case manager that had a client using this service. I found the service lacking in their understanding of my client's disability, condescending in their treatment of the client, and difficult to have a good working relationship with. In the end, we left the service because of the lack of transparency and poor communication.
Obviously the team here at IDS are disappointed to receive a poor review. We are working hard to ensure that we meet the requirements of all of our clients and we welcome all feedback.
Can't recommend these guys highly enough!
Finally able to cut through the red tape, understand what's available for my son and get the help that we can. Thanks IDS you're amazing!!!
Thanks Elizabeth!
It’s been a while since i’ve been involved with IDS, but back when they were HR&SS they did an amazing job helping me find accessible housing. And they’re one of the few organisations to be governed by a board of people with disabilities, which is a great idea.
Thank you for the positive review. We think it makes the world of difference to be governed by people with disabilities, and we look forward to working hard in the future. There are a lot of exciting projects underway at IDS. We’ll be sharing news about them on our website shortly.
