I have been with CPA then "The Spastic Centre" since the age of 2, it is frankly sad and pathetic to call them a charity concerned with people with cerebral palsy. They are a charity in name only and today their approach to business is more like a profit-focused corporation, their fundraising makes a mockery of all people with disabilities, "Dollar Day" and "Steptember" just infantilises and peddles pity. There whole approach to consumers is profit-driven and flies in the face of the vision of Neil and Audrey McLoed.
Something I liked about this disability service is the range of options that they offer. I would like them to improve their productivity as I have yet to receive any proper service.
I love they keep in contact and make our daughter feel at home with them.
The customer service from front desk through to my actual appointment is always wonderful. Everyone is super friendly and always to go out of their way to help.
Communication can sometimes get lost between schedulers and therapists. I've once turned up to an appointment and my therapist has not been there.
Customer service is great – always feel welcomed. Definitely keep that up.. Being kept in the loop of updates via email etc is always great too!!
CPA took over from ADAC and it’s still really good. My son still enjoys the place, staff and programs. It would be great if they had a bigger variety of activities.
They are good and they have got good staff and they have good and training for new staff
Has a wide range of service for people with cerebral palsy and related disabilities.
Our family member currently attends the gym, Conductive Education, accesses overnight respite and occasionally sees therapists. E.g. O.T, physio.
Most of the therapists have good specialised knowledge of the needs of people with CP, especially with regard to equipment choice and scripting.
Staff at respite are excellent and I have confidence that our family member is happy and safe there.
Facilities such as the gym are great. Hydro pool at Allambie Ok but change rooms really need an upgrade. Pool availability also quite limited.
CPA has put many people offside over many years because of its focus on research at a time when there was such a massive unmet need and very lengthy waiting times in therapy services. Such a huge amount of fundraising $'s went to research while people currently living with CP felt they were being left high and dry. This is contrary to their own constitution. As a result, many people are taking their NDIS therapy budgets to private therapists and other service providers.
CPA listened to our needs and understood very well our needs around augmentative communication.
Probably because they seek to understand and have an excellent human rights (non-patronising) approach to PWD, they have been flooded with new clients, so ongoing communication has been ad hoc and could improve a bit.
The appointments are useful but due to numbers not as frequent as we would like (or that our plan allows for).
They came out and help my daughter w/ computer. They've been very good. They have good follow-up.
Waiting time too long for service.
