About

BUSY Ability (formerly ON-Q) was founded in Northern NSW 30 years ago. Our Mission then was to help disadvantaged people, and those who live with disability, to build valued social roles in their communities through participation in paid work. We have achieved a lot in those 30 years and our purpose today remains true to our original mission. Along with Disability Employment Services and NDIS support, BUSY Ability is also contracted by the Australian Government’s Workforce Australia to provide Specialist Employment Services, supporting people with a lived experience of the justice system who may require extra support into employment. BUSY Health provides quality mental and physical health support services to improve opportunities for people to achieve their lifestyle, training, education or employment goals. We help individuals, organisations and schools through NDIS supports, mental and physical health services, training and consultancy.

The NDIS provides funding to eligible people with disability to gain more time with family and friends, greater independence, access to new skills, jobs, or volunteering in their community, and an improved quality of life.

To be eligible for the NDIS, individuals must be under the age of 65, be an Australian citizen or hold a permanent visa, and have a permanent and significant disability that affects their ability to participate in everyday activities.

Your NDIS plan revolves around your personal life goals and aspirations. It is crafted based on the information you share during your planning session with your Local Area Coordinator (LAC). Within your plan, you will find a breakdown of the various supports required to help you reach your goals, along with the specific funding allocated to each support category.

Your NDIS plan is tailored to your needs and is reviewed regularly to ensure it continues to meet your changing circumstances and goals.

The NDIS can be difficult to navigate, it's important that you prepare and seek out assistance during your application process.

For more details, see our step by step guide by visting https://www.ndis.gov.au/applying-access-ndis/how-apply.

The NDIS requires service providers to register with them to allow for direct invoicing claims for NDIA-managed clients. However, not all providers opt for registration, meaning there could be a suitable unregistered provider out there that can offer you supports. Access to these unregistered providers is only available if you self-manage your funds or have a Plan Manager.
