When we asked for a change to our care, the systems they operate means we are now waiting to hear from the intake worker, effectively starting again. Please make it easier for us to access support.

The staff are amicable, but they're not very accommodating to clients in regards to changing time and days and having enough staff to do those shifts which at times left me without a carer and left my days in disarray.

Ducky

As a mother of 3 children, 2 on the autism spectrum I was considering using a respite service as recommended by my sons key worker. She arranged for MECWA to call me. The intake worker who rang me was incredibly rude and invasive, so much so that she had me in tears. I ended up terminating the call and not going further with respite due to this lady's insensitivity and complete rudeness.

The NDIS provides funding to eligible people with disability to gain more time with family and friends, greater independence, access to new skills, jobs, or volunteering in their community, and an improved quality of life.

To be eligible for the NDIS, individuals must be under the age of 65, be an Australian citizen or hold a permanent visa, and have a permanent and significant disability that affects their ability to participate in everyday activities.

To learn more visit https://www.ndis.gov.au/applying-access-ndis/am-i-eligible

Your NDIS plan revolves around your personal life goals and aspirations. It is crafted based on the information you share during your planning session with your Local Area Coordinator (LAC). Within your plan, you will find a breakdown of the various supports required to help you reach your goals, along with the specific funding allocated to each support category.

Your NDIS plan is tailored to your needs and is reviewed regularly to ensure it continues to meet your changing circumstances and goals.

The NDIS can be difficult to navigate, it's important that you prepare and seek out assistance during your application process.

For more details, see our step by step guide by visting https://www.ndis.gov.au/applying-access-ndis/how-apply.

The NDIS requires service providers to register with them to allow for direct invoicing claims for NDIA-managed clients. However, not all providers opt for registration, meaning there could be a suitable unregistered provider out there that can offer you supports. Access to these unregistered providers is only available if you self-manage your funds or have a Plan Manager.
